Highly sought after model, this Hanse 505 is available, with transferable berth at Hebe Haven Yacht Club, Sai Kung. Building on the success of the previous models, Hanse’s mid-range 505 cruiser was engineered specifically for aspiring blue water sailors. Built in Germany at Hanse’s shipyard offering state of the art modern facilities, the expert designers at Judel/Vrolijk shaped her as a fast passage-maker, her 14-tonne dry weight ensures she remains a robust, stable cruiser which in turn offers the ideal family sailor for Hong Kong waters with the opportunity in place to explore further afield. The 505 leverages a powerful rig, an extended waterline, and a streamlined underbody to deliver exceptional speeds and an exhilarating experience under sail whilst ensuring safe handling for individuals & couples alike. Sitting just under the 15m length allows operation with the HK PVOL Grade II license. Engineered for strength and stability, the yacht features a solid-laminate hull below the waterline, insulated by lightweight, balsa-cored topsides and decks. The structure is built using vinylester resin with an osmosis-resistant epoxy barrier. Underneath, a heavy-duty fiberglass grid distributes rig loads to an externally bolted, low-ballast T-Speed cast-iron keel Stiff, bonded bulkheads pair with a deep, balanced spade rudder to give the yacht exceptional course stability and responsive steering. The powerful, fractional sloop rig features a keel-stepped spar with double swept spreaders. It handles over 1,300 sq ft of standard sail, including a fully battened mainsail and a self-tacking jib on a forward track for tight sheeting angles. The stemhead includes an integrated headsail furler and a bow roller attachment for asymmetrical or Code Zero sails. Part of Hanse’s design brief was to make it possible to sail this yacht single-handed so all control lines—including the self-tacking jib sheet—run under-deck from the mast base to clutches directly in front of the twin helms, served by electric primary winches. A 4-cabin layout offers owner’s suite forward, 2 double cabins aft, and a dedicated twin bunk cabin portside. The salon is spacious and light due to multiple hatches and opening ports offering an exceptionally airy open feeling interior. There is seating for up to eight around the saloon table. Fully equipped galley with highly-specified fridge, freezers oven and microwave etc. The forward-facing nav station has a large chart table with ample of space for the wall mounted instruments and a comprehensive distribution panel with tank gauges and battery monitors. No expenses have been spared by the current owners in respect of service and maintenance of this yacht. Being alongside in a berth with shore-power & fresh water, full-time dehumidifying and running of the air con systems means the interior is dry and clean all year round. A regular boat boy ensures the exterior is cleaned and managed. This yacht is found to be one of the most well-maintained Hanse’s on the HK market.
